Summary: Collection consists of records of the county clerk 1849-1946; assessor 1870-1888, 1932; treasurer 1847-1918; sheriff 1847-1938; county commission 1863-1936; justice of the peace 1846-1937; probate court 1851-1934; and school superintendent 1876-1916. Clerk's records include correspondence; registers of deeds, mortgages, licenses, oaths and bonds, brands, bounties and marriages; notarial records; and mining records. They also include political party material of the 1930s, board of canvasser reports 1881-1933, poll tallies and election returns 1866-1896; and a special census of Cerrillos, N.M., taken in 1893. Treasurer's records include warrants, a volume of which contains records of a treason trial in the U.S. District Court for New Mexico, 1847. County commission records include correspondence, petitions, minutes, articles of incorporation, material on courthouse construction 1886, records of board of equalization 1916, and of the Santa Cruz Irrigation District 1931-1935. Justice of the peace records include inquests 1902, 1924; annual reports 1891-1935; and some case files. Miscellaneous records include funding bonds, and county surveyor records.
